STAG BREWERY “THE MALTINGS”
MORTLAKE LONDON ENGLAND

Graphic Logo by Relative Studio
Community-led project; alongside the formation of The MBCG to help assist with a local derelict brewery site, Watney Coombe & Reid. Mortlake is a relay-Village of old Surrey, ex-Barnes Ward and now London SW14, withiin The Royal Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, England.. 65-70% of Mortlake has Heritage & Conservation Areas and the Brewery site flanks these, set-beside the Thames and a now robust, wild and craggy Towpath.
Thames Bank, Mortlake has, at its core; neighbouring riverside heritage properties a much admired Maltings, c.1909-1911. So, working to meet with Richmond Council, we looked to present ideas, to show how this dis-used Maltings could be re-purposed. An A3 Tri-folding pamflet was created to discuss the “Stag Brewery Development Site” and to see, reveal how The Maltings itself should stand proud, be renovated and perhaps be utilised for Local Community Use alongside Developer Interests. Thus; stipulations were set-out into The Planning Brief ( c2014/2015 ) to help guide the Developer and help them to engage the local community. To help “Place a heart – back into Mortlake”. Which was ripped away due to a Dual Carriage-Way, slow down in Commercial Uses of the Site, from 1960s/70s.
